Vilankulos is a popular tourist destination. It has a beautiful bay and is the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago, a stunning group of islands and marine national parks.
Mozambique is famous for its beaches and rightly so. With stable warm weather, clear Indian ocean, abundant wildlife and minimal tourists there are some heavenly beaches to be found in Mozambique.
Bilene is a resort centred around a huge lagoon. The lagoon is the real draw here and unlike the often wavy sea beaches, allows for access to warm, calm waters. A perfect place for fishing, power boating, kite surfing and paddle boarding. The lagoon is huge so there is no issue with all of these activities sharing the water together.
Inhaca is an island in the Maputo bay. Santa Maria is the very end of the peninsula within the Maputo National Park. Both are popular tourist destinations and once you know how, are easily accessible.
Tofo has a headland protecting its beautiful bay. That makes for a choice of still water and areas with waves, according to your preference. It is a well known surfing destination. There is a wonderful and eclectic range of stores, accommodation, restaurants and activities.
Ponta Do Ouro is a rustic, popular little tourist town just a couple of miles from the border with South Africa. The sand roads, beach bars and world class diving make this an attractive, rustic and relaxed little beach town for most of the year.
