Guided Safari Drives in Gorongosa National Park
Named by National Geographic, Time Magazine, Condé Nast Traveller, Afar, and The Telegraph as one of the world’s top destinations, Gorongosa National Park is fast becoming a must-visit for travellers seeking purpose-driven adventure in Africa.
Game drives are one of the best ways to explore this remarkable landscape, and there are two ways to experience them:
Gorongosa Tours
For guests staying at Chitengo campsite or Montebelo Lodge, guided game drives can be booked directly through the Gorongosa Activities Centre. These tours are available in the morning, midday, and late afternoon, offering flexible ways to experience the park’s wildlife and scenic diversity. Drives are led by trained local guides, and pricing is per activity.
Gorongosa Safaris
For those staying at Muzimu Lodge or Chicari Camp, immersive safari drives are included in your stay. Operated by Gorongosa Safaris – the official tourism arm of the park – these experiences go beyond wildlife viewing. Each drive is an opportunity to connect with Gorongosa’s inspiring restoration journey, led by expert guides who bring the park’s unique story to life. Expect fewer vehicles, more in-depth interpretation, and a deeper sense of purpose behind every sighting.
Whether you opt for a day-tour adventure or a fully guided multi-night safari, a game drive in Gorongosa is about more than just ticking off wildlife — it’s about witnessing the power of conservation in action.
