Macuti Lighthouse+shipwreck
Situated on Macuti Beach, two impressive landmarks stand directly in front of each other. An ancient shipwreck that you can walk through and around during low tide reveals only a few pieces of wood pointing out of the sea at high tide. The shipwreck stands on Macuti Beach directly opposite the abandoned lighthouse. The Macuti Lighthouse has been standing proudly since 1904 but has been abandoned for around 20 years. The combination of these two landmarks creates an intriguing and beautiful picture, framed by the sands and sea.
It is recommended to visit Macuti at low tide to have the opportunity to see all of the shipwreck. Many people also enjoy the view at night as the landmarks are bathed in moon and starlight. The best time at night is generally around 11 pm; however, this changes with the tide.
