Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies
Located in the heart of the Bazaruto Archipelago National Park (BANP), the Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies (BCSS) offers an exceptional diving experience within a 143,000-hectare protected marine sanctuary.
Bazaruto Center is strategically positioned by the Bazaruto-Benguerra island channel, providing direct access to the Indian Ocean’s open waters. With African Parks (AP) and Administração Naçional das Areas de Conservação (ANAC) offices just ten minutes away, BCSS operates at the center of this vibrant national park.
This unique research station grants divers access to scientifically monitored sites, including untouched reefs and open-ocean locations, enriched by active scientific research on local ecosystems. As a PADI 5 Star Dive Center, BCSS offers courses for all levels, from Discover Scuba Diving to Dive Master. Environmentally conscious diving packages encourage sustainable interactions with marine life.
Accommodations include single and double rooms with shared facilities for up to 12 guests. Accessible by a short boat ride from Vilanculos, BCSS offers two boats and a 4×4 vehicle for diving and research, with additional boats available through local partnerships on Benguerra Island for a seamless experience.
